Wrong Woman Buried: Mortuary Buries Wrong Woman, Must Now Exhume Body (VIDEO)

A wrong woman was buried at a mortuary in Ingelwood in a shocking mistake by officials working at the California burial ground.

The mortuary has admitted this week that it had made the mistake of putting a woman in the wrong casket and burying her in the wrong grave at someone else's funeral.

Morticians at Simpson's Mortuary had prepared a funeral for Darlene Davidson, who had died leaving behind her husband of 51 years, Evans Davidson.

However, according to KNBC-TV, 73 year old Evans Davidson began complaining at the funeral when he told morticians that the woman in the casket at her viewing was not his wife. But the morticians seemingly did not believe him, perhaps thinking him to be old and confused, and they continued with the funeral despite his protests. They simply told him that the body just looked different as it had been embalmed and prepared for burial.

Davidson has told reporters that a few days after the funeral he was contacted by a mortuary employee who explained that another family had also complained and were claiming a body switch had taken place.

The grieving husband was told that his wife's body was still in fact at the mortuary and had not been buried at the funeral as previously thought.

The other family also had to be informed that their relative had already been buried in the wrong grave, obviously causing extreme distress and anger.

A spokesman for Simpson's Mortuary confirmed that they had indeed buried the wrong woman in Darlene Davidson's grave.

The mortuary also confirmed that it will now exhume the body and pay all expenses for both families to have proper funeral services with the correct arrangements. Evans Davidson will now have to hold a second funeral for his wife, and has said that the extire incident has made his grieving even more difficult.
