5 'gruesome and unethical' abortion clinic practices for disposing of aborted baby body parts

Flushing body parts down garbage disposals

Gosnell's abortion clinic wasn't the only abortion facility where babies' dismembered limbs were being stuffed down garbage disposals.

Longbons cited another video released by the Center for Medical Progress in 2015 showing Michigan abortion chain owner Renee Chelian discussing the disposition of babies' remains during a National Abortion Federation conference.

In the video released by CMP's investigation, Chelian, the owner of Northland Family Planning, told the audience in 2014 that she had stored five months' worth of aborted babies in freezers and didn't know what to do with them.

"I was consumed with fetal tissue. I wanted to drive to upstate Michigan to have a bonfire," Chelian said to laughter.

Ultimately, Chelian said she hired someone to pour 20 bottles of aborted babies' remains down the clinic's garbage disposal before she finally decided to transport the other remains across state lines to be incinerated at a crematorium.

Chelian lamented that abortion facilities have a problem finding cheap ways to dispose of fetal remains. She noted that funeral homes and crematoriums charge $150 per person, which is too expensive. The abortion facility owner claimed that nearly 45 clinics in Detroit routinely flush aborted body parts into garbage disposals.

At first, Chelian claimed she tried to stop them, fearing this could expose the clinics to bad publicity.

“And they consistently showed me like a 40-year-old law in Michigan that said pathological waste was fine to go in the sewer system. I couldn’t really argue with them,” she said.
