Howlett's wife told police that he frequently threatened to carry out a mass shooting, according to the arrest report cited by the Las Vegas Review Journal. Howlett allegedly made repeated threats between January 2024 and January 2025, then appeared to stabilize for several months before becoming erratic again on June 21.
“[He] will frequently put on body armor and grab a rifle and tell her (wife) to take [him] to a homeless shelter (alluding to going to commit a mass shooting at the shelter),” the report said.
Police said Howlett's wife showed them a 38-minute video from January 2024 in which he said officers should "shoot me dead" and warned of a mass shooting if police failed to arrest him.
According to the arrest report, Howlett stole his wife's car, which contained more than 20 guns intended for sale. She then reported the vehicle as stolen, and police later located it and arrested Howlett.
