This week in Christian history: Gospel Coalition holds first conference; Mission Aviation Fellowship founded
The Gospel Coalition's first conference begins – May 23, 2007

This week marks the anniversary of when The Gospel Coalition, an Evangelical group of churches and clergy in the Reformed theological tradition, held its first national conference.
The inaugural two-day gathering was held at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois, with the planned agenda featuring notable pastors, including John Piper, Ray Ortlund Jr. Graham Cole, and Mark Driscoll.
Timothy Keller, the notable Evangelical author, theologian and founding pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, gave the keynote address, preaching from the New Testament book of 1 Peter.
“The Gospel creates a worldview,” said Keller. “The Gospel is the basis for a worldview that actually touches every area of life. The way you do business, the way you do art. The way you conduct your family life.”
“The Gospel is not the ABCs of Christianity, it’s the A-Z. It’s not just the elementary introductory truth and then we get past that … the Gospel is what drives everything that we do.”
