Terrorism. It is a word that invokes tragic imagery throughout the world, be it in North America, Africa or Europe.
It is a word associated with horrid acts performed in New York, Kenya, Paris, Syria, the Middle East, and Northern Ireland.
In the face of such horrible actions, in the face of dreadful situations, the Bible offers up verses of hope.
Below, in no particular order, are five passages for those who've witnessed terrorism, be it in person, on the computer, or on television.
1. Psalm 46:1-2
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the Earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea …
2. Matthew 5:9-10
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

3. Luke 12:4

4. Ezekiel 18:31-32
Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord God; so turn, and live.
5. Matthew 24:6
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
