Over 2,600 evangelicals called on their state governors this past week to consent to resettle refugees in their borders following an executive order signed by President Donald Trump requiring approval from state and local officials before refugees can be resettled.

The evangelical refugee resettlement agency World Relief and the Evangelical Immigration Table, a coalition of evangelical organizations seeking comprehensive immigration reform, led the effort.

So far, 17 of the nation’s 50 governors have indicated that they will continue to allow refugee resettlement in the U.S., according to World Relief.

HHS advisor blasts WHO for promoting medical abortions in countries with restrictions

Valerie Huber, the senior policy advisor in the HHS Office of Global Affairs, criticized the World Health Organization for what she says is the United Nations agency’s promotion of self-managed medical abortions in countries where abortion rights are restricted.

She said that while only one out of 5,000 women in high-income countries die from maternal mortality, that number skyrockets to 1 out of every 36 in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Huber contended that maternal mortality internationally is a “winnable battle” and is a problem that “can be cured.”

But, she added, “the World Health Organization is actually encouraging organizations to go behind the backs of countries that have any restrictions on abortion and provide self-care to the women in those countries.”

Blake Shelton believes in God more than ever, now attends church regularly because of Gwen Stefani

Blake Shelton has publicly thanked his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, for strengthening his relationship with God and encouraging him to attend church more often.

Shelton told The Tennessean that along with creating music with Stefani, she has also been instrumental in the rededication of his faith.

“I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life,” he told the newspaper. “The biggest part of that is just how [Gwen] came into my life and now our relationship.”

“If you take God out of it, it doesn’t make sense. If you put God into it, everything that’s happened with us makes sense.”
