Alex Kendrick attended the 28th annual Movieguide Awards in early 2020 where he revealed the plans for the film but did not release the name of the title.

"We are shooting a movie this summer,” the actor told The Christian Post in an interview at the popular awards show that honors faith and family content.

“We're very excited about that and it's a true story and it's going to grab your heart. We love it!” he exclaimed.

The brothers are used to making original content such as their No. 1 box office hit “War Room,” but their next film was actually brought to them by a friend.

"We normally do write our own movies but this one was so powerful when we read it and we saw how it was very timely for today's culture,” Kendrick told CP.

In another interview at that awards show, Kendrick shared with Movieguide that the story stems from a video that the Kendrick brothers saw about a young boy and his birth mother.

“It is a true story and it follows an adopted 18-year-old young boy that meets his biological parents for the first time,” he explained.

“His mother got off the abortion table. And she was laying there to have the procedure, and she felt like God was saying there’s still time, there’s still time. She got up, she told the doctor to stop. She walked out, and her boyfriend was like, ‘What are you doing,’ and she gave the baby up for adoption. And, then 18 years later, she got to meet him,” he continued.

His adoptive family are Christians and saw “God’s providence and hand on that.”

“It basically just reminds us that life is precious, life is valuable,” Kendrick said.

The movie was supposed to be filmed this summer, but due to the coronavirus, filming was rescheduled. It’s expected to hit theaters in the fall of 2021.
