8 movies, faith-fueled series families can watch together this Thanksgiving

Where to watch: In theaters now
Starring Zachary Levi, this historical drama tells the extraordinary true story of Sarah Rector, an 11-year-old black girl in 1900s Oklahoma who became one of America’s first black female millionaires. It’s a story of faith, perseverance, injustice and divine purpose, told with heart and cinematic beauty.
The film, directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh ("The Stoning of Soraya M.," "The Young Messiah") and shot in Oklahoma, features Sonequa Martin-Green, Garret Dillahunt, Bridget Regan and newcomer Naya Desir-Johnson as Sarah.
The PG-rated film contains thematic content, some violence, language including racial slurs, a suggestive reference and brief smoking. “Sarah’s Oil” is a powerful choice for families wanting a thoughtful, conversation-starting drama.
