10 Popular Political Photo Memes That Are Totally Bogus
9. Hillary Clinton Struggles to Name Accomplishments
As it became ever-clearer that Hillary Rodham Clinton was going to run for president, a quote attributed to her was widely circulated via mass email and various photo memes on social media.
The quote purportedly showed the former Secretary of State giving a ridiculously absurd answer to the question of what her accomplishments were in public office during an interview on March 11, 2014.
Snopes investigated the quotation, finding that, while Clinton has at times struggled to explain her accomplishments as Secretary of State, she never actually spoke the specific nonsensical response.
"Hillary Clinton made no such statement, however. None of the numerous reproductions of this quote makes any mention of whom Hillary Clinton was speaking to when she allegedly said it or identifies the specifics of the setting in which it was supposedly uttered," explained Snopes.
"We've found no record of Clinton's having engaged in any public appearance or interview on 11 March 2014 during which she might have said what is attributed to her, nor any news account or transcript that references such a quote (from that date or at any other time)."
