Last fall, evangelist and author Jefferson Bethke sat down with Tim Keller, founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, to talk about the challenges that face the Western church.

Keller, author of the New York Times bestseller "The Reason for God," identifies three idols that distract American believers from the life that God has for us: depending on experience instead of the word of God, valuing doctrine ahead of the grace of Christ and adopting a consumerist attitude toward the church by seeking services instead of giving of themselves.
