The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), a large Nigerian-founded Pentecostal denomination with millions of members worldwide and rapid growth in U.K. cities, offers “Apostle Stephen,” a virtual assistant on its site.

According to a review by The Conversation, when asked to provide information on local congregations in the U.K., the bot requested the user's name, email and phone number before sharing any information so it could "pass your details to the relevant authorities within the RCCG for further guidance and follow-up."

After repeated requests, the chatbot then pivoted to the seven steps of being “born again,” guided the user through a salvation prayer, and again asked for personal details.
