4 major ballot measure results from the 2026 midterm elections: Voter ID, abortion and protecting girls' sports
4. Voters express support for keeping trans-identified males out of women’s sports
Voters in several states were asked to weigh in on measures designed to keep trans-identified males out of women’s sports and private spaces. In Arizona, unofficial results show Proposition 318, which will require students to compete on sports teams that align with their sex and prohibit boys from entering girls-only spaces and vice versa, passing with 58.9% of the vote.
In Colorado, with 75% of the vote reported, Proposition 134 has majority support (52.4%), with official results pending. Proposition 134 would require trans-identified athletes to compete on sports teams that correspond to their sex as opposed to their self-declared identity.
Another measure on the ballot in Colorado, Proposition 135, would ban irreversible sex-change procedures on minors. With just over 75% of the vote reported, 51.9% of Coloradans have backed the ballot measure.
In Washington, with just under 60% of the vote counted, 56.8% of voters have supported Measure 638, which would require athletes to compete on teams that match their sex, not the gender they claim to identify as.
