5 Bible Verses for Wives

One of the requirements of being a woman of God is to be a good wife. There are tons of materials out there that give pointers to being such, but the Bible remains to be the best source for instruction.

Below are verses to guide women on how to become a good wife based on God's standard.

"Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord." (Ephesians 5:22)

This is the most basic rule handed down by God for wives. In most cases, this is the most effective way to attain peace at home and avoid conflicts. This doesn't mean though that the wife should be subservient to the husband's abuses. What the verse actually means is to be faithful to one's husband, as to the Lord.

"He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD." (Proverbs 18:22)

One indication of a woman being a good wife is her closeness to her mother-in-law. A mother knows best and she knows right away if her son has found the ideal partner. A woman who aspires for kindness, faithfulness and purity will not only be loved by her man but by his family as well.

"She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." (Proverbs 31:26)

An unfaithful man will always talk about his wife's flaws to justify his action. But a woman who constantly speaks of wisdom and kindness is impossible to betray.

"Your adornment must not be merely external — braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses." (1 Peter 3:3)

It's unfortunate to know there are women who spend more time at the dermatological clinic, beauty parlor and gym to make them look young or attractive to others. A good wife can still look gorgeous while maintaining her modesty.

"Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you." (Genesis 3:16)

The internet explosion has caused marital infidelity to increase, according to sociologists. It was also learned more wives have been unfaithful to their husbands at some point in their marriage. Not that there were more virtuous women before, it's just that instant messaging brought by modern technology has made "fooling around" more discreet. A good wife will have more desire and spend more time with her husband than her "friends" on social media.
