Never one to shy away from controversy himself, rapper and producer Kanye West, who goes by the name Ye, wore a designer face mask featuring a crucifix on the front.

The all-black face mask appeared similar to a mask from designer Alexander McQueen's 1996 "Dante" collection. 

Page Six reports that Sunday marked the 14th anniversary of McQueen's death, and West "likely wore the mask to honor the late fashion legend."

In recent years, West has occasionally donned several different styles of face masks for performances and other appearances. 

In 2021, he sported a Christian-themed face mask with images of Jesus and two angels on the front.
