5 highlights from Trump's year-end address

3. Announces use of tariff revenue for military bonuses: 'Checks are already on the way'
Identifying tariff as his “favorite word,” Trump credited his implementation of tariffs on foreign goods with creating economic “success” in the form of $18 trillion worth of investments in the U.S. and increased wages for coal workers, construction workers and factory workers.
“Companies know that if they build in America, there are no tariffs and that’s why they are coming home to the USA in record numbers,” he explained. “They’re building factories and plants at levels we haven’t seen.”
He also announced that more than 1.4 million military service members will receive what he called a “warrior dividend” before Christmas.
“In honor of our nation’s founding in 1776, we are sending every soldier $1,776,” he said. “The checks are already on the way."
The military bonuses will be paid for using revenue generated from tariffs, detailing how the U.S. “made a lot more money than anybody thought."
