4. Trump said the shooting was a 'religious thing'

Speaking on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” Trump described Allen as “probably a pretty sick guy” who had shifted from Christianity to opposing it.

“He was a Christian, believer, and then he became an anti-Christian,” Trump said.

In a Sunday interview with Fox News, Trump said the attack was “a religious thing” that was “strongly anti-Christian.” 

The manifesto included references to Christian theology. Allen framed the attack as a response to what he described as moral failures by the administration.

He wrote that “turning the other cheek when someone else is oppressed is not Christian behavior.”
