6 times top Democrats warned against illegal immigration, called for deportations
2. Hillary Clinton: 'Deport them, no questions asked'
During her 2008 presidential campaign, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called for the deportation of illegal immigrants who have committed a crime.
"I think we've got to have tough conditions, tell people to come out of the shadows," she said at a rally in 2007. "If they've committed a crime, deport them, no questions asked, they're gone." She went on to suggest that illegal immigrants who are "law-abiding" and employed should be given conditions and penalties if they want to stay in the U.S.
"You have to pay a stiff fine because you came here illegally, you have to pay back taxes, and you have to try to learn English, and you have to wait in line," she said to raucous applause from her Democratic audience.

When she ran for president again in 2016, Clinton echoed her belief that violent illegal immigrants should be deported.
"But if you are asking about everyone who is already here, undocumented immigrants, the 11-12 million who are living here, my priorities are to deport violent criminals, terrorists and anyone who threatens our safety," she said during a Democratic primary debate.
Like her husband, Clinton has recently come out forcefully against what she has described as excessively aggressive federal immigration enforcement. On Jan. 26, she solicited donations for those protesting ICE in Minnesota, describing them as "the best of America" and "ordinary people [who] are bravely looking out for their neighbors, defending their communities, and protesting lawless violence."
In a lengthy article published in The Atlantic last week, she compared Trump to Caligula and Nero while claiming his administration is deliberately instilling fear in the public by exhibiting cruel tactics. She said former presidents going back to her husband "managed to deport millions of undocumented immigrants without turning American cities into battlegrounds or making a show of keeping children in cages."
