Openly gay South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg has garnered many headlines for his talk about his Episcopalian beliefs.

At an LGBT Victory Fund event, Buttigieg argued that entering a same-sex marriage actually strengthened his Christian faith.

“My marriage to Chasten has made me a better man — and yes, Mr. Vice President, it has moved me closer to God,” stated Buttigieg, as reported by USA Today.

“And that's the thing I wish the Mike Pences of the world would understand, that if you've got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me. Your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.”
