'A watershed moment': Evangelical leaders react to Pope Leo XIV

5. Johnnie Moore 

The Rev. Johnnie Moore, president of the Congress of Christian Leaders and an Evangelical public relations executive, shared a statement on X Thursday stating that Evangelicals look forward to working with the new pontiff. 

"Evangelicals, now the second largest Christian community, really look forward to working with Pope Leo XIV — the first American Pope — on issues of common concern, worldwide," Moore stated.

"Congratulations to His Holiness and to Catholics everywhere."
