Abigail Hernandez Arrest - Police Take Man Into Custody, Charge Him With Felony Kidnapping of 14-Year-Old

Police arrested a New Hampshire man in connection with the disappearance of 15-year-old Abigail Hernandez more than nine months ago. Nathaniel Kibby, 34, was arrested at his home and charged with felony kidnapping.

Kibby told police that he took the girl, then 14, on October 9, after she left school to walk home in North Conway. Police have not revealed any other details about the case but Kibby is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday, July 29, and a press briefing will be held afterward. Details about Kibby's life will also be revealed in court on Tuesday, and the community of North Conway is eager to learn more about the man who held Hernandez hostage for nine months.

On July 20, Hernandez suddenly returned home. There was no information about why or how she was returned, and her family has insisted that the girl never ran away, which some had speculated. Now that Kibby has admitted to abducting her, those rumors have been put to rest. But there are still plenty of questions that her family and friends want answered.

Abigail had "a look in her eyes I've never, ever seen before," her mother Zenya said on the "Today" show. "And that's something that's haunting me, and I think will haunt me for the rest of my life."

Her family has said that Abigail seems different and has lost a lot of weight and is very pale. They all want justice for their daughter, who lost nine months of her life.

"I feel like they just took and ripped something out of our souls and just as I swore that I'll find her – I'll find the person," Zenya said. "I'll find out what happened."

Abigail was able to provide law enforcement with "details of her kidnapping sufficient to warrant (the) arrest," the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office said in a press release. He was taken into custody without any incident, surprising neighbors, and leaving them all with more questions than answers.
