Adele's Father Cancer Diagnosis, Trying To Reunite With Singer
Adele and her father have been estranged since she was just a toddler, but following his cancer diagnosis, Mark Evans is trying once more to make amends with his Grammy Award-winning daughter.
Born on May 5, 1988 in Tottenham, England, Adele went on to sweep musical charts with hit songs such as "Rolling in the Deep" and "Rumor Has It," among many others.
Today, the 25-year-old is taking some time off after starting a family of her own, and her father recently went public with his desire to be a part of it.
"I was not there for my daughter when I should have been," Evans explained, according to the U.K.'s Sun Online. "I have regretted that every second of every day. It tears me up inside."
The 51-year-old announced that he is battling bowel cancer and continues his attempts to earn forgiveness for walking out on his daughter when she was a child.
Furthermore, Evans would like to meet his 11-month-old grandson Angelo before it is too late.
"I still haven't met Angelo and I'm facing the fact I may never," he said. "It could be over for me before I get to make my peace with Adele."
Adele welcomed her son with fiancé Simon Konecki in October 2012, but did not announce his arrival or his name, and so it comes as no surprise that the staunchly private singer is hard to get ahold of.
Evans compared his trying to get in touch with Adele to being as easy as "trying to call the U.S. President," and that the ordeal has left him embarrassed.
"I'm hitting a brick wall," he said. "All my friends say, 'What's going on Mark?' I have to tell them I just don't know. I've been ostracized."
The desperate father does not have the contact information for Adele's mother Penny either, and that cards sent to Adele's record label have gone unnoticed.
Meanwhile, Adele was "delighted" to announce her pregnancy back in May 2011 via a statement on her website, but almost never discusses her personal life in public.
However, the chanteuse did take the time to debunk rumors that she had already married Konecki last year.
"I'm not married…" Adele posted to Twitter at the time. "Zzzzzz."
