Amazon Fire HD 10 Specs, Price: Basic, No-Frills Tablet Hits The Mark For Its Price

Amazon has come out with the All-New Fire HD 10, and as the name implies, it's a full-HD tablet designed for watching movies and online content. At just $150 for the 32 GB model, this tablet is very good for the few things it is designed for.

This tablet is Amazon's entry into the low-end tablet market, there's little doubt about that, and as such, the company has made the Fire HD 10 focused on media. It shows in the Full HD screen at 1,920 by 1,080-pixel resolution, just right for 1080p HD content, as TechRadar notes.

Its plastic case is durable enough for everyday use, and the finish is not really an issue when buyers get the protective cases that let this tablet be propped up for better viewing on a table or at their bedside. The screen has good saturation and excellent viewing angles, as The Verge reviewed.

There's a serviceable set of speakers in the tablet, too, with dual stereo speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos. The sound output, while limited in range, is more than suitable for watching movies or listening to music a few feet from the device.

The Fire 10 HD comes with a MediaTek quad-core chipset with 2 GB of memory, according to Pocket Lint. It comes with options for 32 GB or 64 GB of storage, with a microSD slot available to add more. There's a 2-megapixel primary camera at the rear, with a VGA front camera at the front for selfies as well.

It runs Amazon's own Fire OS as its operating system, and while it's limited compared to, say, Android, the OS is designed for low power devices. The Fire HD 10 has a battery life of around ten hours as a result. Charging is done via the micro-USB port, and surprisingly, the device does not support quick charging: charge times take about five hours for a full battery.

Overall, the Amazon Fire HD 10 is excellent for basic things like watching a movie or basic browsing. The device is now available on Amazon for the 32 GB model, with more news of the 64 GB variant expected in the coming weeks.
