Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Update to Roll Out for Samsung Galaxy S5 in 'Early June'
Earlier reports said that Samsung was hard at work to deliver "micro-updates" to various models of their smartphones in order to address the several bugs caught from the earlier Android 5.0 patch.
A new report from Phone Arena said that the 2014 flagship of the South Korean tech giant, the Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900), is now currently being tested for the Android 5.0.2 update.
The test is being conducted in partnership with the Australian mobile carrier company Optus.
Optus confirmed on their website that the new firmware will roll out for the device in "early June." The update, as stated, includes bug fixes and other hardware performance improvements. No major software updates are expected since Galaxy S5 has already been upgraded to 5.0 Lollipop.
It remains to be seen if any of the other Samsung devices like the Galaxy S4, Note 3, Note 4, or Note Edge, will get the same 5.0.2 Lollipop build.
The publication went on to add that if initial tests go well in Australia, it's highly likely that Samsung will do so with other countries and partner with their respective mobile carrier companies for this specific purpose.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 was released back in February of 2014 and is packed with a 1920 x 1080 display resolution in a 5.1-inch screen. It houses a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor reported to clock in at 2.5 Ghz. The device, which has a 16 MP primary camera and a 2,800 mAh battery, is currently priced at $590 off-contract.
