Android 5.2 M Update for Nexus 5, 6, 9 Release Date News: October Rollout Expected for Nexus Devices

Three months after Google announced its Android 5.2 M at the I/O 2015, it has released news it will be incorporating the new OS for Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 in the fall.

Google's upcoming operating system upgrade, the Android 5.2 M, is expected to roll out for Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 by October, right after the American tech company allows its developer partners to evaluate the new OS' features.

Referred to as the Macadamia Nut Cookie after Google decided to dub its operating systems after desserts, Nexus users can expect the new OS to be available right after developers put it through its paces during the assessment phase.

While the updates accompanying the Android 5.2 M version aren't going to be as large as those that came with its predecessor, the Android Lollipop, users will still get to experience its new features, including its app permissions systems.

The incorporation of the app permissions systems is a major change for the OS as it allows users the authority to validate an available app.

The Android 5.2 M will also include Doze, which is geared at boosting a smartphone's battery life. Another inclusion, the Google Now On Tap, will provide users with useful information about an app's content before they validate it.

The new OS update will allow users to back up their app information on Google Drive on a daily basis, limited only by a 25MB ceiling per app.

The Android 5.2 M will provide users with a more streamlined look for their homepage, hiding certain icons in the status bar for a minimalist experience. This is further strengthened by a customizable Quick Settings function allowing users to add, move, or eliminate tiles.

Apart from giving users the option to utilize their SD cards to supplement their handset's internal memory, the OS will have a Storage Manager function that will point out apps taking up too much space, and recommending which folders to delete.
