'Battleborn' Open Beta Launched, 25 Heroes Available to Play
First-person shooter video game "Battleborn" is now available to play, but just not the full game yet. According to a report by Game Spot, developer Gearbox Software launched the open beta of the game for PlayStation 4 on Friday, April 8. Everyone on the system can access it, which means that PlayStation Plus isn't required. Meanwhile, players on Xbox One and PC will have their turn on April 13. The open beta will run until April 18.
As for what's in store in the beta, Gotta Be Mobile detailed that it comes with two story missions which are The Algorithm and Void's Edge. Gearbox describes The Algorithm as a mode wherein gamers must go on a mission to find a way to fix and unlock the rogue Magnus AI, ISIC. On the other hand, the Void's Edge will be featuring an ice-cold planet called Bliss and will center on the opening of a Varelsi portal. Players must fight their way through the invasion and deliver the freight.
Tech Times also noted that the open beta will contain two competitive multiplayer modes with each having a unique map to play on. One will be the Incursion (Overgrowth map) wherein players must destroy the enemy's two Spider Sentry Drones before they make an invasion. The other one is the Meltdown (Paradise Map) which involves taking down minions. Players can score whenever the minions throw themselves into the incinerator. The winning team is the one with the most gained scrap metal.

The open beta has also made available the 25 characters or heroes of the game, although some will require unlocking to be used and played with. Upon the official launch of the game, 5 more will be added to the roster. IGN also reported that Gearbox has announced already that the "Battleborn" season pass and digital deluxe edition are now available for pre-purchase. The digital deluxe game costs $75 and it will include the game, the season pass and some "additional cosmetic customizations."
"Battleborn" is set for release on May 3.
