2. Flynn asks wife’s family for forgiveness, swears to God he did not kill his wife

Speaking to the family of his late wife Ashley, Flynn admitted to committing adultery: “I made vows to Ashley on our wedding day. I failed those vows. And through my decisions, I have caused you guys an incredible amount of pain.”

Flynn acknowledged that he used “awful and hurtful” language when referring to his late wife and her family in conversations with his mistress that became public during the trial: “As horrible as those things were, I want you to know whether you believe it or not that I did not or do not mean them. I do not hate you and I love you all. I take complete accountability and responsibility for my words and my decisions.”

“I am so sorry and pray you can one day forgive me,” he proclaimed.

As he concluded his remarks, Flynn admitted that he had “unfortunately lied about a lot of things over the last couple of years,” before insisting that he did not kill his wife: “As I stand here before God, who is my ultimate judge, I am not blind. When I say I did not kill my wife, I will continue to fight for my innocence as long as the Lord allows me to as I did not kill my wife.”

Flynn also read aloud from scripture, quoting from Proverbs 3:5-6, which states: “Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.” Flynn spoke directly to God after he finished reading the Bible passage, maintaining: “Jesus, I love you. I acknowledge you as Lord and savior of my life. I trust in you.”
