3. Canadian police calls shooter a ‘gun-person’
In an apparent effort to avoid “misgendering” the shooter, a spokesman for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) referred to Rootselaar, a biological male, as a “gun-person” rather than “gunman.”
RCMP Staff Sgt. Kris Clark used the euphemism for the shooter just hours after 10 people were murdered in Tumbler Ridge.
Clark also told reporters he would not reveal the name of the shooter due to “privacy reasons and, obviously, the conduct of the investigation.”
