Candace Cameron Bure shares warning about 'friends' after invitation to S&M party: 'Dark and demonic'

Candace Cameron Bure revealed this week on her podcast that a friend once invited her to an exclusive party but failed to warn her that it was actually an underground S&M sex party. Upon entering, Bure said the atmosphere felt “dark and demonic,” and she and her husband quickly left.
The 49-year-old actress and “Fuller House” star shared the story during a Tuesday episode of her podcast, saying that she attended the party with her husband, former NHL player Valeri Bure.
"I have some really weird, embarrassing moments," the Christian actress said. "Although I shouldn’t say embarrassing. For me, they were more shameful of going to places where I thought, like, ‘Oh, this person’s a friend, and I’m going to be cool and do this.’"
“We walked in, and my eyeballs were popping out of my head because I saw stuff I’ve never seen before in my life,” she said of the unexpected scenes at the S&M party she described as “an S&M sex thing that was so dark and demonic.”
"I’m looking at Val, going like, ‘How are we here? What is happening?’"
"We made a hard U-turn and walked right out of there. It just was so slimy and weird," she added. "We just had no idea what we were walking into, and it was so disgusting and gross."
After that experience, Bure said she's now cautious about accepting any invitations from the "friend" who invited her.
Recently, on the red carpet at the 33rd annual Movieguide Faith & Values Awards, Bure expressed her joy at witnessing the recent surge of spiritually themed programming.
“I think everyone’s realizing there’s dollars behind it,” she said. “And that’s kind of what it always takes because the dollars speak to the executives and the streamers and the networks. I’m so happy these bigger companies are listening to what people really want.”
The ceremony, which was hosted by Cameron Mathison, celebrated films, television programs and performances that highlight faith, redemption and family-centered values. Bure was nominated for a Grace Award for her performance in the series “Timeless Tidings of Joy.”
While studios and streaming platforms appear to have recognized that there's an audience for faith-driven stories, the Christian actress hopes the growing investment in the genre doesn't come at the expense of authenticity.
“I hope that they do remain scripturally sound and true to the Word of God and the Christian faith,” she said. “Because you can always tell when something’s produced in Christian content by a non-Christian, it’s very easy to see the difference.”
The actress has also published several Christian books, including 100 Days of Joy and Strength: A Daily Devotional Journey, which she said is meant to help people step away from their busy lives and reconnect with God.
"This book is for people who feel alone in their struggles," Bure said. "Life gives us challenges every day. It really is an encouragement to be able to just reset, renew our focus, and remind ourselves that God is with us. He never leaves us. He hears everything we talk to Him about."
As a mother of three, Bure said she can relate to people who are struggling during a difficult season in life that can feel draining or isolating. The author and actress reflected on a time when she stepped away from acting to be a stay-at-home mom for her children, which she acknowledged was a difficult period.
"That was a season in my life that I really had to find the joy in. As much as I loved raising my kids, it was a very hard adjustment," she said. "You can feel shameful to admit that kind of thing … and yet that was the very season in my life where I honestly found the joy of the Lord, and He became my strength. It changed my whole perception."
Bure said that she hopes the devotional book will help women re-engage with God and provide them with the space for spiritual reflection.
