'Castle' Season 8 Spoilers News: Series To Feature Courtroom Plotline For The First Time

ABC's hit police-procedural drama TV series "Castle" Season 8 is about to bring in a big surprise for its fans with a unique plotline that will happen on the show for the very first time.

A spoiler report from TVLine said that the Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic-fronted drama will feature a courtroom trial for one of the many cases solved by Castle and Beckett.

"For the first time ever in Castle history, you go into a courtroom, you actually see a trial based on a case," the media outlet quoted co-showrunner Alexi Hawley as saying.

Furthermore, Castle's testimony will make longtime fans reminisce the old times.

"I think it will be a treat for our longtime fans," co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter says and adds, "because it refers to several things that have happened in the last few years."

Viewers however, should brace themselves for what might go wrong during the courtroom proceeding. According to Hawley, there will be a "fallout" and some "damage control" afterwards.

As to what episode this all happens, it has yet to be found out.

Meanwhile, the show is slated to return for the second half of its current season next month. According to the spoiler from Entertainment Weekly, the upcoming ninth episode will be called "Tone Death" and will see actor Corbin Bleu guest starring as Hunter Washington, who is a leader of an acapella group. The episode, as it turns out, will be featuring a murder case which happens in the world of "competitive acapella."

As for the rumors going around indicating the show's cancellation after Season 8, ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee said during the Television Critics Association that although they would love for the show to keep on going, they are already considering making a spin-off show should Fillion and Katic opt not to return.

"Castle" Season 8 resumes Feb. 1 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
