Chris Brown Wishes Karrueche Tran 'Happy Birthday' on Twitter After Rihanna Split
Chris Brown recently sent a birthday message to ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran on Twitter, fueling reports that the the pair may get back together.
The 24-year-old "Fine China" singer wrote "Happy bday @karrueche" on May 17, to which the aspiring fashion designer replied with a heart symbol. The pair, who dated for two years after Brown split from Rihanna in 2009, is said to be taking things slowly.
"He's been initiating contact with her, not the other way around," the source told HollywoodLife.com about Brown and Tran. "I wouldn't say Karrueche and Chris are together but they are talking and kicking it."
In October, Tran, 24, was left heartbroken when Brown admittedly ended their relationship over Rihanna. Just months after confirming his reconciliation with the Bajan pop star, he announced that they had again split up during an interview with Australian radio hosts Kyle & Jackie O Show.
"The way I look at it is, I'm always going to love that person, but people have differences, and people have different wants and needs, at the end of the day she's a young girl," Brown said.
"I can't really be focused on wife-ing somebody that young, and I'm young too," he added.
Tran, who is often attacked on twitter by Rihanna fans over Brown, is said to be optimistic about a reconciliation.
"That's her dearest friend, her ex and yes, she loves him. I know she would love to be back with him but it's probably not the right time, not right now," a source said. "I think Chris needs some time to, as he says, do him and really focus on himself. Karrueche will always be there for Chris."
On May 5, Brown was photographed celebrating his birthday with Tran and others in New York City, but Rihanna was nowhere in sight. Days later the "Diamonds" singer, who was allegedly furious after photos of Brown and Tran surfaced, ended their relationship.
"When Chris was in NYC celebrating a friend's birthday, Rihanna found out that Karrueche was in town. She found out that they met up and saw each other and so she dumped Chris," a source said.
