Christian leaders are urging voters to cast ballots Tuesday as control of Congress and abortion measures in four states hang in the balance.

In an X post on Monday, the Rev. Franklin Graham addressed Christians ahead of Election Day. “Tomorrow is a pivotal day in our nation’s history,” he wrote. “I would encourage everyone to think about—and PRAY about—the consequences of how you cast your ballot. The two political parties are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Your vote does matter and could possibly change the future of our country. So VOTE, and ask God to give you wisdom.”

Graham, CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the charitable organization Samaritan’s Purse, is not alone in warning that the 2026 midterm election results could have profound implications for Christian voters across the U.S. The pro-life group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America issued an update Monday on its efforts to reach Christian and pro-life voters ahead of the midterms, laying out how the outcome could affect the pro-life movement.

“The stakes are higher than ever this cycle, with more than 1.1 million children’s lives lost to abortion in America each year. The power of the pro-life issue is proven in competitive battlegrounds where tens of thousands of votes can change everything,” said Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “The heart of our efforts remains the passionate canvassers who speak with millions of voters face to face directly at their homes and see their minds change in real time.”

According to Dannenfelser, “Using various communications, we have reached 10.5 million persuadable and low-turnout voters with tested, strategic messages exposing radical Democrats who would impose abortion on demand with no limits through the ninth month in every state.” Additional information about Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America’s election advocacy efforts is available in a detailed report published on the organization’s website.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America and its partner, Women Speak Out PAC, announced last November an $80 million investment in the 2026 midterm elections, where all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are on the ballot, as are 35 U.S. Senate seats. As Dannenfelser suggested, the outcome of the midterm elections is expected to have a direct impact on abortion policy in the U.S.

The RealClearPolitics average of polls asking voters which party they want to control Congress shows Democrats leading Republicans by 8.8 percentage points. Similarly, Democrats lead in Republican-held U.S. Senate seats in Alaska, Kansas, Maine, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas. Democrats need a net gain of four seats to win a Senate majority, so flipping all six would give them control as long as they also hold the seats they are defending.

In addition to the congressional races at the center of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America’s voter outreach efforts, voters in multiple states will have abortion referendums on the ballot. Voters in Missouri will consider whether to reverse a measure that narrowly passed in 2024, which established a constitutional right to abortion in the state. The new amendment would also incldue a ban on gender-transition procedures for minors into the state constitution. A February poll by St. Louis University and YouGov, as updated by the pollster, found that 50% of respondents supported reversing the pro-abortion ballot measure while 39% opposed it.

Conversely, an August poll of 900 likely voters from the same pollster measured opposition to reversing the pro-abortion ballot measure at 44% while 43% supported it. In Idaho, voters will decide the fate of a ballot measure that would establish a constitutional right to abortion up to the point of viability, referring to the point in pregnancy where a baby can survive outside the womb.

A Boise State University survey of 508 Idaho voters conducted in November 2025 found that 58.9% of respondents expressed support for the ballot measure legalizing abortion up until viability while 31.5% oppose it. Support was slightly higher (60.5%) among a separate group of 492 Idaho voters, who were told that the name of the ballot measure is the “Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act,” while the opposition was slightly lower (27.6%).

In Nevada, voters will weigh in on a ballot measure that would establish a constitutional right to abortion for the second time. While voters overwhelmingly approved it two years ago, Nevada law requires voters to approve constitutional amendments twice before they can take effect. A poll of 487 likely Nevada voters conducted by Noble Predictive Insights last week found that 57% of respondents planned to support the amendment while 34% planned to oppose it.

Voters in Virginia will also have the opportunity to weigh in on a constitutional amendment that would establish a right to abortion in the state constitution. A poll of 806 adults conducted by Virginia Commonwealth University from Dec. 18, 2024, through Jan. 15, 2025, found that 62% of respondents supported the measure while 30% opposed it.

A January 2025 survey of 806 adults conducted by the Wason Center at Christopher Newport University revealed that 61% of respondents planned to support the ballot measure while 30% opposed it. A January 2025 survey of 806 registered voters conducted by the Wason Center at Christopher Newport University found that 61% of respondents supported amending the state constitution to guarantee reproductive rights while 32% opposed it.
