Maranatha Baptist Church

Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, the Carters' home church since leaving the White House, stated in a Facebook post that Rosalynn Carter "selflessly served her congregation and her community as a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, and the founder of the church's food ministry."

The church states that the monthly food distribution "now includes volunteers from across the community serving thousands of pounds of food to hundreds of local families on the third Saturday of each month."

"Although she is no longer present with us on this earth, we rejoice in knowing that her fellowship is now in Heaven with her Savior and Friend, our Redeemer, Jesus," the church's Facebook post reads. "So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy."
