Christina Ricci Says Love Scenes With Pattinson Less Than Romantic

Christina Ricci, who plays one of Robert Pattinson's many love interests in the new film "Bel Ami," says her love scenes with Pattinson, were anything but romantic. Ricci has revealed that with the film's director insisting on historical authenticity came little sensuality acting out the actual scenes.

"Bel Ami," based in the 19th century, centers around a poor but attractive Parisian man who climbs his way to the top of society by seducing powerful Parisian women played by Christina Ricci, Kristin Scott Thomas and Uma Thurman.

"I was told, 'don't shave your armpits - be accurate.' And then you see it on screen, with your arms raised, in this beautiful lighting -- and you're just like 'that was a bad move.' Some accuracy is just not called for."

Ricci also joked that having so many people watch her film the love scenes didn't help either. "It was so intimate and romantic with 100 crew members there and no ceiling," she quipped.

In spite of the fact her love scenes with Pattinson were not romantic in the slightest Ricci says her co-star was indeed a good kisser. ''Everyone keeps asking me how it is to kiss Robert. He's a good kisser. And I'm not being nice. It's just like that."

''He's always the kind of guy that you can look at and go, 'Oh God, this is uncomfortable.' And he's really lovely to work with, especially in those kinds of scenes because he's so quick to laugh at himself -- and me. He's very self-deprecating, as am I,'' she said.

Christina, who has bared her body in a number of films including "Prozac Nation," "AfterLife" and "The Ice Storm," says she has no issue with being naked on screen.

In an interview with Total Film magazine, she said: ''It goes with what a certain character is going through, and what happens in the story. I think it's best not to have feelings about that kind of thing either way. If it's required for the part, it's required. If it's not, then I don't have to worry about being naked. I'm OK with it. I've learned to be OK with it. It takes a while to get used to, definitely, but you learn," she said.
