Christopher Michael on New Movie 'Hardflip': 'Forgive Others and Yourself'

The Christian Post recently spoke with Christopher Michael, who stars in the new movie "Hardflip." Michael has had a lot of experience in the acting business, but this marks the first time that he has played a homeless man.

"One of the biggest challenges for me," Michael told CP, "was that we were working on location, sitting and acting in an alley. It's very different from being in a sound-proofed studio. You have to keep doing it over and over again for sound effects, and I had to get myself worked up for the emotional scenes."

Michael plays Ralph, a man the lead character, Caleb (Randy Wayne), meets along his journey. Caleb must learn to be a good man and embarks on a journey to find the father he never knew. Ralph is there to provide insight and the Word of God to Caleb as he makes his way in the world.

"I liked the challenge of this role. I've never played a homeless person or someone with the demons he's had," Michael explained. "It comes from experience, though, and I don't approach a character from my own standpoint. I assume his circumstances and what he has to do."

Viewers may remember Michael from his various roles on TV. He has starred on the hit series "7th Heaven," playing the good cop Sgt. Michaels and is currently on ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," playing Coach.

"I love working with the teen characters," he said of his co-stars on the "Secret Life." The series is currently in its fifth season and Michael has also starred in the soon-to-be released "Unbelievable!" In that movie, he will portray Dr. Robert Schmitt, who is not only a doctor but an astronaut.

As for "Hardflip," he wants viewers to understand the "power of forgiveness. You have to forgive others and yourself. You have to move on with your life and live your life the way God would want you to do instead of losing yourself in a bottle or other bad circumstances."

In his own life, Michael says, "faith gives me hope above all. No matter how bad things get, you always know God is always going to take care of you. But at the same time you have to do your part."

"Hardflip" will debut in theaters on June 1. For more information, go to hardflipmovie.com.
