'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' News, Update: Actress Caity Lotz Talks About White Canary
Actress Caity Lotz talked about the comeback of her beloved character Sara Lance/the White Canary in the upcoming superhero TV show "DC's Legends of Tomorrow."
Lance, who was a former League of Assassins member and later turned to become one of Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) member in Team Arrow in The CW's "Arrow," was killed off when she took three arrows to the chest and fell off from a building.
Thanks to the mystic powers stemming from the Lazarus Pits, she was revived to become the White Canary in the "Arrow"-"Flash" spin-off series.
"It's nice to know that she gets to come back to life. You only get to do that in the comic book world," Lotz told Entertainment Weekly.
But her return as a skilled vigilante ultimately means that she has to undergo some intensive training for her to better play the part.
"I go about eight hours a week and I do Filipino martial arts, which is a lot of sticks, knife fighting and staff, which is perfect because Sara has the bo staff that breaks into double sticks," she revealed to the publication. "I'm training with this 79-year-old guru master legend guy, who is amazing."
Moving further towards the possible changes on Sara's characteristic after the Lazarus Pits immersion, the actress teased that there might really be some tweaks.
"We haven't gotten the scripts yet, so I don't know how she's going to change, but we've seen with Thea Queen (Willa Holland) that the Lazarus Pit can impact memories and the persona, so the person that goes in is not necessarily the same person who comes out," she revealed.
Despite Sara's kind nature, the actress said that there might be some interplay of goodness and "darkness" in the character which makes her even more interesting to follow.
"At her heart, she has good intentions and wants to do good things. But she thinks there's this darkness in her," she explained in the interview. However, Lotz believes that "[Sara's] intentions are pretty pure and that she wants to do good."
Executive produced by Phil Klemmer and Sarah Schechter, "Legends of Tomorrow" is slated to air on The CW this 2016.
