Kojima stated during the Tokyo Game Show 2016 that "Death Stranding" will be released in 2018, IGN reported. He explained that the game will be released before the 2020 Olympics, more specifically; it will be out in the year before the animated movie "Akira" will be released in 2019.

According to Kojima, "Death Stranding" has several game modes including solo and online multiplayer. He proceeds to tease that the game will have a different kind of approach when it comes to playing online.

'Death Stranding' Norman Reedus, More Details

"Death Stranding" looks to star Norman Reedus from "The Walking Dead" as there are various CGI renders of the actor being featured in the game.

Game Spot reports that Yoji Shinkawa, a mech designer for the "Metal Gear" franchise expressed that "Death Stranding" would be more awesome with mechs in it. Kojima adds that instead of making their own game engine, it will run on a popular third-party game engine but did not specify.

Game to Feature Female Heroine Lead?

It was reported earlier that "Death Stranding" is still in development. Kojima Productions' Twitter account teased about a female heroine playing in the game. The chosen heroine will be cast to play alongside Norman Reedus, according to Destructoid.

Kojima Comments About 'Metal Gear Survive'

While answering questions about "Death Stranding," Kojima was asked about Konami's "Metal Gear Survive." According to Gematsu, Kojima distanced himself from the game and adds that it had nothing to do with him. He reiterated that for him, "Metal Gear Solid" is about politics and espionage and that having strange elements like zombies in it makes the game out of character.

Shinkawa added that he finds the addition of zombies in the "Metal Gear" universe strange because he has not heard Kojima mention them. Furthermore, he explains that the game without a Metal Gear is weird and makes it a "Famicon version" instead.

Kojima Productions' "Death Stranding" has no confirmed released date but it is speculated to be in 2018 exclusively for the PS4.
