President Joe Biden spoke to reporters on Monday about the apparent assassination attempt against Trump.

Biden stated that the U.S. Secret Service "needs more help," adding that the agency may need additional personnel, as ABC News reported.

"Thank God the president's OK," Biden stated.

In a Sunday statement, the president commended the Secret Service and the agency's partners for protecting Trump and those around him. Biden also acknowledged that there is currently an "active investigation" into the recent shooting incident.

After the assassination attempt against the former president in July, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned following criticism from members of both sides of the political aisle. Republicans and Democrats expressed dissatisfaction over Cheatle's answers during a U.S. House of Representatives committee hearing about the assassination attempt.
