Emergency Issue Blocks Removal of Schiavo's Tube

Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube has been ordered to remain in place in an emergency stay issued by a Pinellas Circuit Court judge, Tuesday.

In one of only a handful of court decisions made in favor of Terri’s parents throughout their 7-year battle to keep their daughter alive, Circuit Court Judge George Greer allowed Terri’s feeding tube to remain, at least until a hearing on the case is heard Wednesday.

Greer’s decision comes just moments after the 2nd District Court of Appeal cleared the way for Terri’s husband, Michael Schiavo, to remove her feeding tube at 1 p.m., Tuesday.

Terri’s parents, the Schindlers, now have until 5 p.m., Wednesday, to ask Greer for an emergency stay on his earlier decision to remove her nutrition and hydration tube, at least until they can make an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
