Erin Andrews Peephole Lawsuit Update: Host Settles Issue with Nashville Hotel
Years after Erin Andrews was recorded nude through a door peephole at the Nashville Marriott Hotel, she has finally settled the lawsuit and she is said to be satisfied with what has been agreed on.
Randall Kinnard, a lawyer of Kinnard, Clayton & Beveridge who represented Andrews during the proceedings, told The Tennessean, "This litigation is over. Erin Andrews is satisfied with the settlement, the terms of which are confidential."
It is unclear how much Andrews will get from the settlement but the outlet explains that in March, a Nashville jury decided that the sportscaster be given $55 million. The said amount has not been confirmed but according to the jury, $27 million should be handled by the hotel, while $28 million will be the amount that the stalker, Michael David Barrett, should produce.
E! News further reports that all throughout the proceedings, Andrews showed a strong face. Kinnard told the outlet that she "was very courageous throughout this litigation."
In 2008, a video of Andrews was posted online where she is seen nude as she changed clothes in a hotel room. One year later, Barrett pleaded guilty to stalking the TV personality. He also confessed that he secretly recorded the video through a peephole in a room adjacent to that of Andrews.
In March, Andrews said in a statement that she was thankful for all the support she has received not only from her family and friends, but also from the legal team and the people of Nashville for showering their concern.
"I would like to thank the Nashville court, the court personnel and the jury for their service...I would also like to thank my family, friends, and legal team," she said, as reported by People.
Kinnard and his team asked the judge to apply rules of joint several liability to the hotel, and if the settlement has ruled all in favor of Kinnard and Andrews' requests, the Nashville hotel will have to pay $55 million entirely to the former ESPN reporter.
