Fundraiser for Lindsay Clancy trial holdout juror tops $370K

A fundraiser for the holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy case has raised over $370,000 as the fallout from the high-profile murder trial continues. 

More than two weeks after a mistrial was declared in the trial for Lindsay Clancy, a mother who killed all three of her children as she experienced postpartum psychosis, additional information is coming out about the one juror who disagreed with the rest of the jury that she was not guilty by reason of insanity.

While many jury members have publicly come forward, the holdout juror has not given a public interview yet, but has been identified as Michael Desronvil and has released statements through his attorney. 

A fundraiser was launched on the crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo titled “Stand with the Juror." The page features pictures of Desronvil and his infant child as well as a statement provided by the juror’s counsel elaborating on why he believed Clancy was guilty.

The fundraiser has raised over $374,000 as of Monday afternoon, and aims to “cover security, lawyers, and lost work,” citing certainty that the public will “come for him.”

“As I tried to explain different possible theories during deliberation, I kept getting cut off as if I had doubts based on the evidence presented,” the juror's statement released by lawyer Edward Paltzik reads. 

“Based on all the physical evidence, key witnesses, and what the prosecution presented, I thought it was enough proof that she [Clancy] knew exactly what she was doing and planned,” the statement added. 

The fundraiser highlights the dynamics of how the trial played out, recalling how “the country got the full TikTok-diagnostics package” that insisted postpartum psychosis, “voices” and “trauma,” along with “a stack of pill bottles and a sad playlist,” caused Clancy to murder her children and that she should not be held culpable for the crime.

“The SSRI-medicated mob ran cover like this was a self-care story instead of a triple child killing. They wanted a diagnosis, not a verdict. They wanted her sick, not guilty. They wanted three dead kids memory-holed so nobody had to say the words mother and murderer in the same sentence.”

“One juror held his seat,” the fundraiser added. “He looked at what she did, not the brand of Zoloft. So the defense demanded the judge throw him off the jury for ‘not following reasonable doubt.’ The judge left him on. The jury hung. Mistrial. Now she can be tried again for killing her children instead of getting a standing ovation for her symptoms.” 

Identifying the holdout juror as a Catholic, Fugitive TV host Ray Marcel relayed the contents of a phone conversation he had with Desronvil to his audience in a video published Tuesday.

Desronvil said that on the first day of deliberation, eight of the 12 jurors had decided Clancy was not guilty while two others were not sure. Desronvil and another juror, by contrast, thought Clancy was guilty. 

Desronvil reportedly characterized the jurors who supported a guilty verdict as “activists” and suggested that he was being “targeted” because he is a black Republican in contrast to the rest of the jury, which was predominantly female and Democratic-leaning.

While another juror consistently sided with Desronvil in determining that Clancy was guilty, she changed her mind at the last minute. 

Marcel elaborated on some of the hostility Desronvil has faced.

“This man cannot live in peace right now. People are knocking on his door, going around his house. Not just his house, his family members’ house. His brother has even said that everybody is going by their homes. They can’t leave. They feel unsafe.”

“Is this what the American system was brought up on? Is this how we’re supposed to treat our jurors?” he asked. “Now, in the future, people are going to be scared to even serve on a jury. And if they do, they’re going to be scared to maybe give in to pressure because they don’t want to be that one person that votes either guilty or not guilty.” 

When other members of the jury came forward after the mistrial, they characterized the then-unidentified Desronvil as “very arrogant.” They alleged that “he would not interact with us” and “had the hardest time getting off the fact that Lindsay viciously killed her children.”
