'Game of Thrones' Comic-Con Update: Gwendoline Christie Speaks About Stannis' Death

HBO's panel at the recently-held Comic-Con International in San Diego revealed much information about its hugely-popular fantasy TV drama series "Game of Thrones."

For one, there's the further confirmation on the death of Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) from the hands of the avenging Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie).

"I can't offer you any insight whatsoever [why his death wasn't shown onscreen] because I don't write the show and I don't direct the show … yet!," the English actress told E! News. "No, but how could you ever doubt Brienne? What did you think I was doing, giving him a haircut?"

Of course, the conversation with the cast ultimately led to discuss Jon Snow's (Kit Harrington) untimely onscreen death.

Carice van Houten's Melisandre is among the characters rooted by fans to "hopefully" resurrect Jon from the dead. But to the disappointment of many, the actress only said.

"Why would I be the person to bring him back? I've never seen my character do anything like that. I don't know, I don't know what kind of powers she has but we'll see. I haven't read the scripts yet, so…I really don't know. She has magical powers but I think that the people who can actually bring people back to life are people that we've seen in season three so I'm not sure if I could even do that, to be honest."

Her character, the Red Woman/Priestess, has long been touted by both followers of the G.R.R. Martin Books and the HBO adaptation as the one who can bring Jon Snow back to life, just like what Thoros of Myr did with Beric Dondarrion in the previous seasons.

It remains to be seen how this issue could play out in Martin's next book, "The Winds of Winter" or probably in HBO's "Game of Thrones" Season 6 which will returns on air by 2016.
