'Gears of War 4' Release Date Announced, Shows Off Cover Art

Good news for those who have been waiting for the upcoming third-person shooter video game "Gears of War 4." Developer The Coalition has finally settled on a date to release the game. According to a report by IGN, the game will globally launch on Oct. 11 as an Xbox One exclusive. But those who are eager to play it already are in for a treat as The Coalition director of community Adam Fletcher revealed in the Microsoft blog that they are opening a multiplayer beta.

As noted in the write-up, gamers who have played "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition" on Xbox One or Windows 10 will have the chance to participate the beta on Xbox One. It will start on April 18 and will expand to all Xbox Live Gold members on April 25. The beta will run until May 1. Players who are interested to take part may get more details by checking out the recent announcement made.

And to bring the hype up even more, the cover art for the game has been released already by Microsoft. According to Entertainment Weekly, it features a closer look at the three main protagonists which are named as JD Fenix, Del Walker and Kait Diaz. With the theme of "weathering the storm," it teases the new things that will be coming along the game including never-been-seen-before weapons and new enemies. It has also been noted in the cover art that there is a cameo of a statue with a familiar face from the franchise.

Moreover, "Gears of War 4" will be set 25 years after the events that took place in the original trilogy, which ultimately marked the end of the human versus Locust war with a tremendous blow-up. And as stated in Game Spot, the game will have a split-screen play for multiplayer and a frame rate of 30fps when playing this way.
There is no word yet if a PC version will be released but Fletcher wrote that there are more exciting news and updates to come with regards to the game so fans will have to stay tuned.
