'Glee' Season 6 Spoilers, Cast News: Actress Dot-Marie Jones Reveals Thoughts of Transgender Character
This week on the hit musical comedy-drama TV series "Glee" Season 6, spoiler reports suggest that fans of the show will get to see Coach Beiste's (Dot-Marie Jones) full transformation into a man.
Earlier casting reports indicated that Jones' part in the TV program would be that of a transgender woman. Speaking with People (via DesignNTrend), the 51-year-old Emmy nominated actress revealed to the publication that she was at first hesitant for the acting call.
However, professionalism prevailed for Jones who took up the role and considered it "an honor" to do it on a broadcast television network, wrote Cambio.
"I was crying. Members of the transgender community were saying, 'I never thought I'd see myself on TV. You have no idea what this means to me. Now, maybe people will get it," the star later recounted the public's reactions.
This Friday's showing will feature Coach Beiste garbing her or his new look as a man, with short hair, tie, and mustache.
Meanwhile, BuddyTV reported that tonight's segment will once again showcase a number of classic songs. As suggested in the episode title "What the World Needs Now," the tribute episode will offer renditions of the songs from singer/songwriter/composer Burt Bacharach.
"Most of the songs in this episode are sung by the alumni, which makes sense considering the storylines revolve mainly around them," the publication said.
In line with the alumni performance, Mercedes (Amber Riley) will stop by to help out and catch a moment with Rachel (Lea Michele) to tell her that she should pursue her Broadway dreams.
"Glee" Season 6 "What the World Needs Now" airs this Friday, Feb. 6, at 9 p.m. on FOX.
