Jani Lane Autopsy Inconclusive?

The autopsy performed on Jani Lane, the former lead singer of ‘80s glam band Warrant, proved inconclusive, said the Los Angeles County coroner’s office on Friday.

Ed Winter, Assistant Chief Coroner, said the cause of death will be determined pending the results of the toxicology tests. According to Winter, the process could take around two months to complete.

However, those that knew Lane believe that alcohol played a hand in the rocker’s demise.

“He lost his battle over alcohol,” Obi Steinman, good friend and manager, told E Online. Steinman said Lane has battled alcoholism for years and had at least two DUI arrests.

Steinman said, “He was one of the great rock-and-roll frontmen and singers of all time. His music helped shape the ‘80s,” wrote E Online.

Warrant will remember Lane at their concert in North Dakota Friday night.

Erik Turner, guitarist and co-founder of the band, told TMZ, “We will be making a tribute before we play the song ‘Heaven’ tonight.”

Turner adds, “We never thought that when the song ‘Heaven’ was written we would be playing it someday in the memory of Jani’s untimely death. This is a very sad day for rock and roll. One of the great things about music is that it lives on forever,” TMZ reported.

Jani Lane fans across the country and several in Hollywood took to Twitter to express their grief.

“Just heard about Jani Lane. What a shame. RIP man,” @Slash, former lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, wrote.

“RIP Jani Lane…You will be survived by the music you gave us! Rock dem Angels!” @LZZYHALE said.

@mattnathanson sent a tweet, “oh man, no…jani lane is dead. at 47. that absolutely breaks my heart.”

Another Lane fan, @NicWilko tweeted, “Jani Lane of Warrant was found dead yesterday :( Have a piece of Cherry Pie in his memory.”

The 47-year-old rocker was found dead in a Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, California.

Lane epitomized the hard rock subgenre “glam metal” – with his long blonde hair and tight leather outfits. He joined Warrant in 1984 and several of his hits include, “Cherry Pie,” “Heaven,” and “Down Boys.”
