Jayne Mansfield's Car will see Billy Bob Thornton get back into the director's chair for a film that critics are expecting to be one of the best movies of the year.

Some have touted the new film as being along the similar tone as his award winning movie "Sling Blade."

Jayne Mansfield's Car will see Thornton set things up again in the deep south, and will feature a storyline focusing on the family and culture clash seen in the late 1960s.

The film will focus on two family units, and allow readers to see the sharp contrast between lives in the era. One family is from Alabama and the other is from England – their lives cross over after the death of their matriarch.

The film will see a number of big actors taking to the screen, and shows Thornton in the director's chair can attract top names. Robert Duvall will play the patriarch of the Alabama family, where as John Hurt will feature as the family head of the British family.

Other names in the production include Robert Patrick, Frances O'Connor, Kevin Bacon, Robert Stevenson and Tippi Hedren.

According to the film's information, Thornton himself co-wrote the script with Tom Epperson

With a host of top Hollywood names and talent associated with the film out later this year, this could be one of the year's best films.
