Jean-Claude Van Damme's Split Volvo Stunt Makes Waves (VIDEO)

Jean-Claude Van Damme is still living up to his danger-defying reputation that made him a Hollywood star during the '80s in a new Volvo ad.

Nicknamed "The Muscles from Brussels," the 53-year-old Belgian actor is best known for films such as "Bloodsport" and "Street Fighter" before the martial artist's career slowed.

However, Van Damme has made waves with the impressive first-ever stunt for Volvo this week.

Set to music by Enya, Van Damme performs what is referred to as an "epic split" while riding the headlights between two moving Volvo trucks. The video takes place at sunset and starts focused on Van Damme's serene face with his eyes closed.

"I've had my ups and down, my fair share of bumpy roads and heavy winds, that's what made me what I am today," the actor narrates in the ad. "Now I stand here before you. What you see is a body crafted to perfection; a pair of legs engineered to defy the laws of physics and the mindset to master the most epic of splits."

The camera pans down to reveal Van Damme riding the headlights of the two massive vehicles with his arms serenely crossed as the trucks veer further in opposite directions. By the end of the clip, Van Damme's legs are perfectly horizontal.

In order to prevent copycats, Volvo made special note that the stunt was an effort to "demonstrate the stability and precision of Volvo Dynamic Steering."

"It was carried out by professionals in a closed-off area," reads the video at the end.

On Twitter, Van Damme fans are sounding off on the gripping advert.

"This is amazing," wrote one user. "Jean-Claude Van Damme splits between moving Volvo semis, awesomely."

Patton added, "Holy moley, Jean-Claude Van Damme, is this real? I think this is real. My brain just melted."
