Jenna Bush Hager Reveals Water Broke at Baby Shower: 'It Was Like a Romantic Comedy'

Jenna Bush Hager gave birth to daughter Mila on April 13 and revealed to her "Today" show co-stars, and the rest of the audience, that her water actually broke during a baby shower. Baby Mila arrived soon after, surprising her family by an early arrival.

"I kind of started sweating, which I guess is a normal thing, but then, all of a sudden, in all of my friends, my water broke. It was like a romantic comedy," Hager said via a phone call to "Today."

The new mom and dad are ecstatic with their little girl and have adjusted to changes they were not quite expecting.

"I don't even really like the color pink," Hager confessed, "but there's pink all over my apartment. I like things to be really neat, and there's bottles and things all over, and we're just as happy as can be. I've learned that you can love somebody in a totally different way. I'm totally crazy about her."

"He's doing great," Hager replied when asked how new dad Henry is handling work and his daughter's arrival. "He's a really modern dad. He was taking a conference call while holding the baby yesterday."

Hager, who has worked as a "Today" show correspondent since 2009, shared her first pregnancy with the nation, starting with the announcement in December.

"I'm pregnant!" she told Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. "We're so excited and obviously nervous about it. I'm a first-time mom, but it's something that I've always wanted. I'm a teacher and I love kids. It's a springtime baby."

And her father, former President George W. Bush was the one to make the announcement of baby Mila's birth via his Facebook page.

"Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild, Margaret Laura 'Mila' Hager. Mila… is named for her grandmothers. We met our beautiful granddaughter today. Jenna and Mila are healthy, and our family is elated," Bush posted.
