Katy Hudson changes stage name

According to management agency Alabaster Arts, Katy Hudson, who for the past year has been pursuing a recording with

Island/Def Jam Records has decided to change her stage name to Katheryn Perry. Using her mother's maiden name Perry,

Katheryn Perry made the change to avoid confusion with the actress Kate Hudson.

Perry has been preparing for the release of her new solo album, writing and producing music with her producer, Glen Ballard.

Perry is also signed to be one of two lead singers for production team The Matrix, which is currently producing its own record for Columbia Records.
