Katy Perry Felt 'Fat,' 'Ugly' Throughout Marriage to Russell Brand

Katy Perry reportedly endured constant emotional abuse from ex-husband Russell Brand that would often reduce her to tears, and viewers will be given a glimpse of her troubled marriage in her upcoming 3D documentary-concert film "Part Of Me."

"Katy tried to save the marriage. [Russell] made her feel ugly and fat and stupid," a source told Life & Style magazine.

"Katy was crying all the time and screaming about working too much ... it was obvious [the marriage] was close to over," the source added.

The film, which is due for release in July, centers on Perry, 27, and her transition from a gospel singer to an international pop icon.

Brand, who filed for divorce in December, is reportedly portrayed in a negative light and viewers will watch as he reduces her to tears backstage shortly before she goes on stage to perform before fans.

The reports have shocked fans of the British comedian, 36, who was recently hailed as "noble" after it was revealed that he declined spousal support during the divorce despite being entitled to at least 50 percent of Perry's reported $40 million earnings, according to TMZ.

The pair wed in October of 2010 and separated 14 months later. Brand refused to pursue Perry's money reportedly due to his personal values.

"This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch (Yiddish for a good person)," one source previously told TMZ.

Brand recently spoke out about his ex-wife during an appearance on the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" insisting that he bears no ill will toward her.

"I still love her as a human being, but sometimes when you're in a relationship I suppose it doesn't work out, does it?" he told Ellen.

"But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything. I was very happy to be married with her," he added.

The pair was faced with reports of infidelity toward the end of their marriage, although neither party has ever confirmed whether there was any truth to the rumors.
