Kim Burrell Shares Advice for Bobbi Kristina Brown

Kim Burrell, the gospel singing legend who was close friends with the late Whitney Houston, is sharing her thoughts about her late friend's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown.

Brown, the 21-year-old daughter of Houston, has faced her fair share of criticism for marrying her longtime friend Nick Gordon. After appearing in the Lifetime network reality television series called, "The Houstons: On Our Own" two years ago, her family expressed their concern for her decision making.

Burrell knows Bobbi Kristina very well and even shared advice that she had for her friend's daughter if given the opportunity to share it.

"I remind her too much of her mama in a lot of ways. If I were to be in her ear, the first words I would probably say are, 'Just stop it." Burrell told Essence recently. "'And you know exactly what I mean. You know what time it is. Don't go there.'"

Still, Burrell said the 21-year-old's issues were not all her fault.

"The girl is smart. To me, she's a victim of circumstance," Burrell explained. "I'm not making any excuses, but she was born into craziness. At nine years old, your parents give you $5,000 to go shopping, and the money increases as you get older and you're pretty much on your own. And you're doing what you want to do and you're around all this stuff that she's involved in as a teenager."

While Burrell did not detail the talk that she would like to have with Bobbi Kristina, she did offer some insight into the 21-year-old newlywed's situation.

"So, I would just tell her, 'Baby, just stop. And consider your life to be your own and not a reflection of anyone else's,'" she said. "'Do your best to try to live from this moment forward as an adult because right now you're living out something that's killing you quickly.' I don't want to talk too much about (her marriage) because it is a sore spot."

Burrell could not deny the aspiring entertainer's rebellious nature.

"She's young. And I just hope that at some point she'll let people in," Burruss told Essence. "She's very rebellious, but she loves me. She just doesn't want to hear what I have to say. And I get that."

In recent months, Bobbi Kristina has used her social media accounts to vent amid criticism.

"My mom knows me better than any of you," Brown previously wrote on Facebook. "A lot of yall are saying that y'all are only saying this all out of love. Which is bull because if that was so, all you would want is for me to be happy."
